Our submissions are currently open to FICTION.
How to submit:
- Craft a piece of fiction that you’re tremendously proud of, that will move and compel, and that fits the aesthetic of this magazine (which you have obviously, previously, read at least once.)
- Fewer than 3,000 words is our sweet spot, but we’ll read up to 5,000 if you’re knocking our socks off.
- Note that we said fiction. We are not open for anything other than fiction.
- Compose an email to: subs@reckonreview.com that includes:
- Subject Line: “Title of the Piece”
- In the body of your email, please include a short cover letter including a third person bio
- Attach your story as a PDF or Word document. Please make sure that the file name of the piece includes the title of the story, and that your name is on it somewhere.
- Press send.
- We will get back to you as soon as we can. If it has been more than 4 months, please check in.
We especially encourage submissions from writers who have historically and/or continue to face structural barriers to publication, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+, women and gender non-conforming individuals, disabled, immigrant, impoverished, working class, survivor or other marginalized communities.
Please Note:
- we are currently a non-paying market
- simultaneous submissions are welcomed, but please let us know if you place them elsewhere.
- no previously published work.
- we ask for one-time, archival, and promotional publishing rights to accepted content.
- If accepted, please wait until the next calendar year to submit again.
