Submissions

Our submissions are currently open to FICTION.

How to submit:

  1. Craft a piece of fiction that you’re tremendously proud of, that will move and compel, and that fits the aesthetic of this magazine (which you have obviously, previously, read at least once.)
  2. Fewer than 3,000 words is our sweet spot, but we’ll read up to 5,000 if you’re knocking our socks off.
  3. Note that we said fiction. We are not open for anything other than fiction.
  4. Compose an email to: subs@reckonreview.com that includes:
    • Subject Line: “Title of the Piece”
    • In the body of your email, please include a short cover letter including a third person bio
    • Attach your story as a PDF or Word document. Please make sure that the file name of the piece includes the title of the story, and that your name is on it somewhere.
  5. Press send.
  6. We will get back to you as soon as we can. If it has been more than 4 months, please check in.

We especially encourage submissions from writers who have historically and/or continue to face structural barriers to publication, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+, women and gender non-conforming individuals, disabled, immigrant, impoverished, working class, survivor or other marginalized communities.

Please Note:

  • we are currently a non-paying market
  • simultaneous submissions are welcomed, but please let us know if you place them elsewhere.
  • no previously published work.
  • we ask for one-time, archival, and promotional publishing rights to accepted content.
  • If accepted, please wait until the next calendar year to submit again.
